Debunking the 3 most common pain management myths

by Huneidi Services | Oct 13, 2021

Many patients living with chronic pain feel they have no options to find relief. But many things they’re doing to control their pain are actually making it worse. We’re here to debunk three of the most common pain management myths we hear at IPC.

  1. Exercise will only aggravate my pain: True – if you over-exert yourself, you’ll re-injure yourself. However, the physical therapists at IPC can create a personalized exercise plan to increase your mobility and speed up your recovery.

  2. Painkillers are a must-have: Some people living with chronic pain do require prescription medications, but for many patients, physical therapy and non-invasive treatments are all you need.

  3. I just need to power through the pain: There’s no award for those who ignore their symptoms. The sooner you address the problem, the less likely you’ll require surgery down the road. Stop living with pain and get back to the activities you love!
